Rickshaws’ entry banned on these 11 Karachi roads
The Commissioner of Karachi has announced an immediate ban on the entry and movement of auto-rickshaws on 11 key roads in the city, effective until June 14, 2025.
As per the official notification, motor cab rickshaws categorized as “One Plus Two” and “One Plus Four” (those with seating for two or four passengers in addition to the driver) will be prohibited from operating or entering the following major routes:
- Shara Faisal to Awari Tower Hotel
- Quaid-e-Azam Street to Nomaish Chowrangi
- I.I Chandrigarh Road to Shaheen Complex
- Two Talwar to Shara-e-Farooqi
- Sher Shah Suri Road to Matric Board Road
- Sir Shah Suleman Road and Sir Habib Ibrahim Road
- Shaheed Millat Road to Jail Chowrangi
- Abdullah Haroon Road to Two Talwar Chowk
- Around Stadium Road and Millennium Mall
- Maripur Road to Gulbai Road
- Rashid Minhas Road to Dargah Road
The decision aims to enhance traffic flow and ease congestion on Karachi’s busiest highways.
Authorities are expected to enforce the ban strictly, and rickshaw drivers have been advised to steer clear of these routes to avoid penalties or having their vehicles impounded.
