Summer Vacation 2025: Education Dept Sends Holiday Summary to CM

Schedule of summer holidays 2025 in three Pakistani provinces
The Punjab School Education Department has formally submitted a proposal to the Chief Minister, recommending the commencement of summer vacations across the province from June 1, in anticipation of a potential severe heatwave.
According to official sources, the department has forwarded a summary for review, with the final decision resting in the hands of Chief Minister Punjab. Secretary of Education Khalid Nazir Wattoo emphasized that, although the early break is being considered due to rising temperatures, the formal approval is still awaited.
It is pertinent to note that earlier this month, the Punjab government implemented a revised schedule for schools, reducing daily timings by 30 minutes in response to increasing heat. This change was enforced from April 7 and is expected to remain in effect until October 15. Schools are now operating from 7:30 AM, with dismissal timings adjusted accordingly for both single and double-shift institutions.
Despite the adjustment in school hours, many parents remain apprehensive about sending their children to school in such high temperatures. Concerns about student health and well-being have led to growing calls for the government to advance the summer vacation schedule.
Educators are echoing these concerns, citing that the current ambiguity around vacation dates is disrupting lesson planning and the timely completion of the academic curriculum. Teachers are urging the provincial authorities to issue a clear directive soon to ensure smooth academic operations.
As Punjab braces for intense summer conditions, the Chief Minister’s decision in the coming days will determine whether students and staff will get an early respite from the scorching heat.
