PIA starts Lahore-Baku flights, PM calls it diplomatic success

The Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has expressed happiness over the launch of direct flights by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) from Lahore to Baku, Azerbaijan.

In his special statement, PM Shehbaz said that the launch of direct flights between Baku and Lahore will boost the tourism sector, which will bring the people of the two countries closer.

Further, he announced that PIA’s direct flights with other friendly countries will soon be started, similar to the Lahore-Baku flights.

Shahbaz Sharif called it a major diplomatic success for Pakistan, saying that Azerbaijan is one of Pakistan’s best friends in the region.

In addition, Pakistan is striving to collaborate with Azerbaijan in other sectors, including tourism, which will further strengthen relations between the two countries.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister appreciated the growing friendship and cooperation between the two countries and expressed the hope that these flights would further promote cultural exchange and economic relations.

Earlier, PIA has announced the launch of direct flights between Lahore and Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, starting from April 20, 2025.

As per the airline, the new route will offer two flights each week, departing from Lahore to Baku every Sunday and Wednesday.

This new air link is expected to strengthen bilateral ties in travel, tourism, and trade between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

To mark the occasion, PIA hosted an exclusive launch event in Karachi, where media representatives, travel agents, and tour operators were briefed on the details of the new service.

PIA officials shared comprehensive information about the route, highlighting its potential to benefit both countries. They also emphasized the crucial role travel agents would play in ensuring the success of the new venture.

Baku has become an increasingly popular destination among Pakistani travelers, known for its picturesque landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and easy visa process.
