Cement prices rise in Pakistan -check city-wise rates

22 April, 2025 13:45

According to the latest report by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), cement prices have slightly increased in some areas of the country over the past week.

Experts says, this minor increase in price shows growth in the construction and real estate sector, which may affect the pending infrastructure developments as well as housing projects across Pakistan.

In the northern areas, the price of a bag of cement increased by 0.95%, and costs Rs 1,425, whereas last week, it was Rs 1,411.

On the other hand, the southern region saw a slight drop in prices, with a cement bag now costing Rs 1,384, down from Rs 1,387.

Looking at city-wise prices:

  • Lahore has the highest cement price in the country at Rs 1,497 per bag.
  • Bahawalpur follows at Rs 1,470, while Gujranwala and Sialkot are at Rs 1,440 each.
  • In the south, Sukkur and Quetta have high prices too, both at Rs 1,450.
  • Larkana stands at Rs 1,416, while Hyderabad and Khuzdar are at Rs 1,337.
  • Karachi offers the cheapest rate at Rs 1,313 per bag.

Experts warn that these price trends could slow down construction work and cause project delays in mid-2025, especially for government and private sector developments.
