How to file complaint in Lahore consumer court for damages or Relief?
The Consumer Court in Lahore, Punjab, is a legal setup that helps people when they face issues with products or services. Itβs designed to protect buyersβ rights and solve problems like faulty items, poor service, unfair prices, or false advertising.
To file a complaint, a consumer needs to submit an application along with related documents and a proof of purchase. This court works under the Punjab Consumer Protection Act and provides an easy and low-cost way to get justice.
Before going to the Consumer Court, a person must first send a 15-day legal notice to the seller or service provider. But if you’re filing with the Authority (not the court), this notice is not required.
You can also claim compensation in court if youβve suffered a loss or troubleβthereβs no limit on how much you can ask for.
How to File a Case in Consumer Court
Anyone can file a case in Consumer Court, and there is no court fee. If the seller or provider is found guilty, they can be punished with up to 2 years in jail, a fine of up to Rs100,000, or both
Procedure
βServe a fifteen (15) days legal notice on plain paper, to the provider of defective product(s) or faulty service(s), as the case may be, stating therein that he / she / they will redress the damage suffered by him / her / them and consequently pay damages to the consumer within fifteen days of receipt of legal notice, otherwise the consumer may file a claim for redressal of his / her / their grievance before Consumer Court
Legal notice should be served to the manufacturers / sellers of product(s) and to the service provider, in case of provision of service, especially through registered post / mail, along-with acknowledgement.
If the matter is not resolved through legal notice, then the consumer may file a case / claim on plain paper for redressal of his / her / their grievance before the Consumer Court within subsequent fifteen days
Case / claim may be filed by the consumer himself / herself / themself or through a Lawyer,β read official website.
An aggrieved person can also appeal against the final decision of the Consumer Court, you can appeal in the Lahore High Court within 30 days.
