Intermediate Exams Delayed for Three Weeks; Here’s Why
Balochistan board announces new date for Intermediate exams 2025
In a surprising turn of events, the Intermediate annual exams 2025 in Balochistan have been postponed by three weeks, leaving students and educators caught off guard. The exams were supposed to start today, April 22, but were postponed after an announcement by Muhammad Ishaq, the Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.
In a statement, Muhammad Ishaq confirmed that a revised date sheet for the annual exams would be released in the coming days.
Reason Behind the Postponement
The delay in the Intermediate annual exams 2025 comes as a result of a boycott by the Professors and Lecturers Association. This has led to a significant disruption in the examination schedule, affecting the 100,937 students who were expected to sit for the exams starting today.
Meanwhile, in Karachi, the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) also made headlines with their decision to delay the intermediate exams. Originally set to begin on April 28, the exams in Karachi will now commence from May 6 or possibly later, due to ongoing concerns related to the extreme heatwave affecting the region.
Impact on Exam Schedule
The delay of this first phase of Intermediate exams-2025 in Karachi, covering pre-engineering, pre-medical, and science general groups of Part I and II, shall have the domino effect on the Commerce and Arts Group exams of the second phase.
Board officials explained that the postponement was necessary due to a combination of factors, including a shortage of available exam centers, adjustments in the first-year results due to the grace marks decision, and other logistical challenges.
Timeline of Exam Postponements
The problems with scheduling began quite some time earlier this year. The matric exams, originally scheduled to start March 15, were postponed upon objections from private school associations arguing that holding exams in the holy month of Ramadan would be difficult for many students.
In response, the Steering Committee of the Board approved a revised schedule, with matric exams now starting on April 8. These exams are expected to conclude on May 2, after which the exam centers will be made available for the Intermediate annual exams 2025.
Given this timeline, students and educational authorities can expect the Intermediate exams 2025 to begin on May 6 or later, once all the logistical arrangements are in place.
