The United Nations Security Council condemned the incident in Pahalgam area of occupied Kashmir, but India’s desire against Pakistan could not be fulfilled.
Pakistan’s diplomacy worked, like the statement issued after the Pulwama attack, this time India’s desire to use harsh language could not be fulfilled. Pakistan’s diplomacy in the United Nations Security Council worked.
The Security Council condemned the incident in occupied Kashmir, but did not use harsh language like the statement issued after the Pulwama attack.
The Council’s statement used only the words of all concerned officials in place of India.
The statement was proposed by the United States and the unanimous statement could not be approved. Pakistan did not allow controversial words to be included in diplomatic efforts.
Pakistan also included the word Jammu and Kashmir in the statement, India wanted the word Pahalgam to be included so that there is an impression that Occupied Kashmir has been usurped by India.
With the failure to include the word Pahalgam, India could not immediately get the condemnation. The attack in Pahalgam took place on April 22 and the condemnation statement was issued four days later on April 26.
The UN official said that the United Nations is monitoring the situation in the region with great concern, India and Pakistan should show utmost restraint to prevent the situation from worsening further.
