Overseas Pakistanis Can Now Download Digital NICOP – Here’s How

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new service for overseas Pakistanis, enabling them to download their dematerialized NICOP, or digital identity card, directly onto their smartphones.

The National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) is designed for Pakistani nationals living abroad who hold dual citizenship with countries that have agreements with Pakistan regarding dual nationality. With a Smart NICOP, holders are allowed to travel to Pakistan without the need for a visa.

NICOP holders enjoy a range of benefits, including:

• Entry to Pakistan using a foreign passport without the need for a visa
• Recognition as a Pakistani citizen
• The ability to buy and sell property in Pakistan
• The option to open a bank account in Pakistan
• Eligibility for a Pakistani passport
• Voting rights while in Pakistan

In a move to make the process even more convenient, NADRA has launched the dematerialized or digital NICOP. Overseas Pakistanis who already have a physical NICOP can now easily download the digital version to their mobile phones.

How to Download the NADRA Digital NICOP

To download the digital NICOP, follow these simple steps:

• First, download the PakID app on your mobile phone.
• Log in to the PakID app.
• Select the “Digital Card” option.
• Enter your contact details.
• Scan the QR code on the back of your physical NICOP.
• Go to the PakID Inbox section, where you will find a soft copy of your NICOP after completing the required process.

This new initiative simplifies the process for overseas Pakistanis to carry their NICOP digitally, making it more accessible and convenient.
