Pahalgam incident: Indian propaganda about stopping water exposed

28 April, 2025 10:45

After the Pahalgam incident, Indian propaganda about stopping Pakistan’s water and releasing excess water into the Jhelum river was exposed.

According to sources, India will try to prove the announcement of unilateral suspension of the Indus Water Treaty to be true, however, this attempt of India is nothing but a blatant attempt to fool its people.

India first tried to give the impression of flood situation by releasing excess water in the Jhelum river and as a result of this effort of India, a 22,000 cusec s of water passed through Domail area of Muzaffarabad.

After the unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the western rivers are being monitored by the Ministry of Water Resources and WAPDA, but India does not have the capacity to stop or change the flow of the river, so it does not threaten Pakistan’s water needs.

India currently has a total storage capacity of only 0.624 million acre feet of water on western rivers, compared to 7.35 million acre feet in Pakistan’s Mangla Reservoir alone.

According to sources, the purpose of Indian activities is mainly to create a narrative. The Ministry of Water Resources and WAPDA are constantly monitoring the situation and issuing timely updates.

Experts say that there is no immediate threat to Pakistan in terms of water security and water at this time, in the context of climate change, the construction of large reservoirs on fast track basis is inevitable.
