KU area flooded after major water line burst

A large part of the residential area of ​​the Karachi University (KU) was flooded after an 84-inch water line passing near the residential area of ​​the University of Karachi burst. This line supplies water to various areas of the city.

According to a spokesperson for the Water Corporation, the 84-inch diameter line of the Water Corporation near the University of Karachi leaked at siphon number 19. CEO of Water Corporation Ahmed Ali Siddiqui has issued orders for immediate repair of the affected line. The Water Corporation has reduced the water pressure so that repair work can begin.

Repair work will begin immediately after the water level drops. The repair work will continue for 24 hours and will be completed in 96 hours. During the repair work, the water supply will be partially suspended in various areas of the city.

The affected areas include Jamshed Town, Jinnah Town, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Pak Colony, Golimar, Sher Shah, Old City Area, Landhi, Korangi, and PAF Base Masroor. A total of 650 MGD of water is supplied to the city daily.

During the repair work, the city will face a daily water shortage of 250 MGD. Despite the repair work, the city will continue to receive 400 MGD of water as usual. Citizens should store water and use it carefully.

In this regard, the Karachi University administration said that as much water as could have entered the university has been done, but no damage has been caused. Water reached the gardens of houses, and the Water Board staff has reached the spot to drain it, and the water will be drained very soon. At present, the electricity of Karachi University has been disconnected to avoid any untoward incident.
