Pakistan briefs allies on Pahalgam incident, gets assurances from China, Turkey

29 April, 2025 21:47

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that we have taken friendly countries into confidence, while China has assured us that we are with you, and Turkey said, tell us what we can do, we are looking into the whole matter, I said that I told them that we will not initiate, but if India does, we will respond with full force.

Speaking in the Senate, he said that so far we have spoken to the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Qatar, China, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Hungary, while we spoke to the Prime Minister of Qatar and the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates.

These are our close and friendly countries. I personally provided them with a detailed account of what happened. I explained the facts to all friendly countries, keeping in mind India’s thinking, India’s history, and our concerns about what India’s intentions might be given its past, such as when Pulwama happened in the past, Article 370 was abrogated, and occupied Kashmir was made a part of the Union Territory.

Ishaq Dar said that they have been engaged for two and a half years, sometimes saying that the situation has changed and sometimes saying something else. It is written in the Indus Waters Treaty that it can neither be terminated nor changed unless the will of both countries is included. Perhaps the entire drama was created to terminate this agreement. Pakistan has no hand in the Pahalgam incident. We are saying with complete confidence that Pakistan has no involvement in it.

He said that I have a long list; some countries are contacting us to talk on their own, and some we have contacted. They are being taken into confidence, and the facts are being told.

However, we are also informing the nation about our contacts. I believe that China and Turkey have taken a very clear position. I spoke to the Chinese Foreign Minister on Sunday. He was going to Brazil for the BRICS meeting and was in Kazakhstan at the time. I spoke to him in great detail. He assured us, as friends and brothers, that we are with you. We are happy.

Dar briefed that the world is watching what we are doing, we are united, and this is the need of the hour; the Chinese Foreign Office has made its position clear.
