Traffic jam in Karachi: Roads blocked due to city protests – check here

Today, Karachi is facing massive traffic jams and roadblocks because of citywide protests. Residents, transporters, and lawyers have taken to the streets, causing heavy disruption across many important roads.

Several key roads are blocked, including:

• Teen Hatti Road (both sides)

• Lal Masjid Nishtar Road

• Roads around PIB Mor

• Link Road T-Crossing

• Main National Highway (both ways to and from Thatta)

• Near Malir Court on National Highway

• Jinnah Bridge towards MT Khan Road

• MT Khan Road towards Bahria Complex

• I.I. Chundrigar Road

• M.A. Jinnah Road

• Tower and nearby areas

The protests began with residents of Teen Hatti who were upset about long power and water outages. They blocked roads from Lal Masjid Nishtar Road to PIB Mor. Women also joined the protest in large numbers.

In Ramswami, people gathered outside a K-Electric office, throwing stones and damaging vehicles. They said that there had been no electricity since 7 AM, which also caused water shortages.

Meanwhile, lawyers held a protest on Link Road against a canal project, blocking the Link Road T-Crossing. This caused more traffic problems. Another group of lawyers protested near Malir Court, blocking parts of the Main National Highway.

Transporters also protested by blocking Jinnah Bridge and sections of MT Khan Road with containers. They were upset about sit-ins happening in other parts of Sindh. Police confirmed they stopped the transporter protest rally from entering the Red Zone, and small vehicles were diverted towards Tower.
