Labour Day 2025: Will Schools Remain Closed This Thursday?

30 April, 2025 11:49

Pakistan will observe Labour Day with a public holiday on Thursday, May 1. The federal and provincial governments have announced the day off to honor workers and their contributions.

The Punjab government has officially confirmed the holiday for May 1, which matches International Labour Day. Many students are now waiting for a school holiday announcement, hoping to enjoy a mid-week break. Some private schools have already told their students that there will be no classes on Thursday.

Labour Day is celebrated every year around the world to remember workers’ struggles and to support their rights. In Pakistan, the day is usually marked with rallies, public meetings, and speeches about workers’ rights and welfare.

With the public holiday notifications already issued in Punjab and Sindh, many families are planning to enjoy a longer weekend. Schools and businesses are expected to stay closed.

Although the School Education Departments have not officially announced school closures yet, it is likely that schools will also be closed, following the government’s public holiday schedule. Students and parents are eagerly waiting for the final confirmation.

In short, Labour Day will be a day for workers to rest and for families to spend some time together, enjoying the holiday.
