Pakistan briefs UN on Indian terror allegations, Kashmir

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had a telephone conversation with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and held a detailed discussion on the changing situation in the region, Indian allegations, and the issue of occupied Kashmir.
The Prime Minister strongly rejected Indian efforts to link Pakistan to the Pahalgam incident, saying that Pakistan has informed the United Nations about Indian conspiracies.
The premier expressed serious concern over Indian state-sponsored terrorism in occupied Kashmir.
Shahbaz Sharif condemned India’s illegal and irresponsible water-related actions under the Indus Waters Treaty, saying that the treaty is a lifeline for 240 million people and India’s actions are a threat to the stability of the region.
The PM reiterated his resolve to give a befitting reply to any Indian provocation, saying that Pakistan will defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity with all its might.
He called on the Secretary-General to advise India to act responsibly and with restraint.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the unresolved issue of occupied Kashmir is the root cause of instability in South Asia.
He stressed the need to play a role in achieving a just solution to Kashmir in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to promoting international peace and security and said that Pakistan desires peace in the region but will not remain silent in the face of any aggression.
The UN Secretary-General appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace in South Asia and said that in the current critical circumstances, the world cannot afford any kind of tension in the region.
He urged all parties to exercise restraint and diplomatic efforts.
