Rawalpindi opens new 12 animal markets for Eid-ul-Adha 2025 - Check location here
The preparations for Eid-ul-Adha have started in Pakistan, and animal markets are now being set up. In Rawalpindi, the city administration has opened 12 official markets at different locations.
Selling animals in residential areas, small streets, or main roads is strictly banned to avoid traffic problems and keep things organized. Anyone breaking the rules could face fines, legal action, or even have their animals taken away.
The District Council, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB), and Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) will manage these markets. Right now, they are giving out contracts to companies to run the markets.
Each market will have basic facilities like electricity, water for people and animals, and shaded areas. Temporary electric meters will be installed, and water will be supplied through tankers. Stall owners will have to set up tents and sitting areas themselves.
Locations of Animal Markets in Rawalpindi
The biggest market will be at Bhatta Chowk, near the Rawalpindi-Islamabad border, under the RCB.
There will also be shops for food, drinks, animal fodder, and accessories.
Parking charges for cars and loaders have been increased.
Other markets will be in Rawat, Adiala Road, Chakri Road, Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, Kahuta, Kotli Sattian, Murree, and Taxila.
CCB will manage two markets: behind the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench and near Sangit Cinema, Mareer Chowk.
Animals are expected to start arriving on May 15, while full market activities will run from May 28 until the second day of Eid.
Expected Prices
Bulls: Rs 300,000 to Rs 1.5 million
Goats and sheep: Rs 130,000 to Rs 300,000
(Prices are expected to rise closer to Eid.)
Entry charges for bringing animals into the markets are Rs 2,000 for small animals and Rs 3,000 for large ones. Contractors must also make sure the markets stay clean.
