NADRA launches Mobile App for birth, death, marital status changes
NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) has launched a new mobile app to make it easier for people to register important life events like births, deaths, and changes in marital status — all from home.
The app was announced by NADRA Chairman Lt. Gen. Muhammad Munir Afsar, who said it’s part of a plan to modernize and simplify public services.
The app will first be launched in Punjab, and to support it, biometric systems are being installed in union councils across the province.
In Islamabad, NADRA is also setting up special one-window counters at union councils to help people with the process if they need in-person assistance.
As a reminder, all Pakistani citizens must carry their CNIC (Computerised National Identity Card), which is required for many things like getting a passport, SIM card, bank account, driver’s license, and more. Everyone who turns 18 must apply for a CNIC, which requires submitting certain documents.
The CNIC also helps link a person’s identity to healthcare and education systems in Pakistan.
Recently, NADRA has also introduced a digital version of the CNIC, which people can download to their mobile phones if they already have a physical card.
Here’s how to get your digital CNIC
Download the PakID app
Log in
Select the Digital Card option
Enter your contact details
Scan the QR code from the back of your physical CNIC
Go to the Inbox section in the app
Download your digital card
Now, important tasks like registrations and ID access are just a few taps away.
