Indian Cyber Attack on Pakistan Expected – Here’s How to Stay Safe Online

07 May, 2025 13:09

ISLAMABAD – As tensions between Pakistan and India continue to rise, a new warning has been issued about possible cyber attacks targeting Pakistan’s digital systems. The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT) released an urgent advisory on Wednesday, alerting both government institutions and the public about growing cyber threats.

This alert comes as Indian cyber attack threats spread across social media. According to NCERT, hackers and hostile groups are trying to take advantage of the current conflict by launching phishing attacks, fake news campaigns, and spreading misinformation.

Cyber Attacks: Fake News and Phishing Attempts Increasing

NCERT stated that enemy elements are using misleading messages and false alerts to create confusion and panic among the public. These attacks are aimed at weakening Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, especially critical networks in both the public and private sectors.

“The main goal is to damage important national systems and break down communication channels,” the advisory warned.

Public Urged to Stay Alert

Citizens have been strongly advised not to forward or share unverified information about any cyber attacks. NCERT mentioned that platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter are being used to spread lies and fake reports.

People are warned not to click on unknown links or open emails from strange or suspicious sources. Instead, everyone should rely on official announcements from the government or emergency response teams.

Avoid Misinformation – Trust Only Verified Sources

Officials have asked the public to stay calm and be smart about what they read or share online. NCERT warned that many messages are part of a psychological war to create fear and confusion.

How to Protect Yourself from Cyber Threats in Pakistan:

  • Do not click on strange or suspicious links

  • Avoid opening messages or emails from unknown senders

  • Report phishing and fake messages to cyber security helplines

  • Get updates only from verified and official sources

  • Do not forward unconfirmed news or warnings

As cyber risks grow during this tense period, authorities are calling on everyone to stay informed and play their part in protecting national cyber security.
