India-Pakistan Tensions – Hajj 2025: How to get information on Hajj flights

08 May, 2025 14:04

As the situation between Pakistan and India remains tense, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has launched a 24-hour helpline to assist Hajj pilgrims affected by the disrupted flight schedule.

The ministry announced that pilgrims can get flight updates and assistance by calling 051-9216980. This helpline was launched under the directive of Federal Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf to ensure pilgrims receive timely information despite the ongoing regional crisis.

The helpline is managed in two shifts under the supervision of Director IT Jameel-ur-Rehman.

  • The first shift is headed by Hafiz Majid, who can be contacted at +92-332-4509868.

  • The second shift is overseen by Assistant Director Malik Asad, reachable at +92-321-5365023.

Pilgrims are also advised to remain in contact with their local Haji camps for the latest updates on travel and logistical arrangements.

The disruption comes as Pakistani aviation authorities temporarily suspend flight operations at Lahore, Sialkot, and Karachi airports. This follows multiple Indian drone crashes reported across Punjab, including Lahore, where a drone was shot down in the Naseerabad area early Thursday.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), both Lahore and Sialkot airports will remain closed until 12:00 am on May 8. A new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued, confirming that several air routes in and out of these cities are temporarily shut to commercial flights.

These restrictions have severely impacted Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) operations. Several flights bound for Lahore have been rerouted to Islamabad.

Additionally, schools in Lahore have been closed as a precaution after the drone incident raised security concerns.

The situation remains fluid, and authorities continue to monitor cross-border developments closely.
