PTA Shuts Down Indian Propaganda Network Amid Escalating India-Pakistan Tensions
In response to the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken strict action against what it calls a “propaganda war” launched by India through digital platforms.
Indian Disinformation Campaign Targeted
On Thursday, multiple Indian news channels, YouTube influencers, and media websites began spreading fake reports claiming that cities like Lahore and Karachi had fallen, and that senior Pakistani officials were arrested. These reports quickly went viral, even though life remained completely normal across Pakistan.
PTA Responds with Mass Takedown
In an official statement, PTA announced that it has blocked 16 Indian YouTube news channels, 31 individual video links, and 32 websites that were allegedly involved in spreading fake news and anti-Pakistan propaganda. The move was made to prevent misinformation during this sensitive time.
This action follows India’s earlier decision to ban several Pakistani YouTube channels on its side of the border.
Public Reaction in Pakistan
Many Pakistanis praised the move, expressing support for the ban. One social media user commented, “Ban everything.” Another wrote, “We don’t even watch their content anyway. Good decision!” A third added, “Ban their celebrities too.”
The step by PTA is seen as part of Pakistan’s broader effort to control digital misinformation and protect national security during a period of increased military and diplomatic tension.
