NADRA offers free ID cards for first-time applicants

NADRA has introduced a helpful new service: first-time applicants can now get their national ID card (CNIC) completely free.

This move is meant to make it easier for Pakistanis to register for their identity cards. Even better, the free cards now come with smart features, even though they don’t have a chip.

What’s New in the Free Non-Chip ID Card?

NADRA has updated its non-chip CNICs with several useful features:

• Bilingual Info: Your details will appear in both Urdu and English.

• Colored Photo: A high-quality color picture will help with better identity checks.

• QR Code: Each card has a unique QR code you can scan to access your digital ID through the Pak ID mobile app.

• Lifetime Validity for Some: Organ donors and people with disabilities will get a special mark on their card, and their ID won’t expire.

How to Get Your Free ID

If you’re applying for the first time, you can go to a NADRA center and get your non-chip ID card for free. It will be ready in about 15 working days.

Other CNIC Services & Fees

For other services like renewals, changes, or lost cards, NADRA has the following fees:

• Normal Service: PKR 400 (takes 31 days)

• Urgent Service: PKR 1,150 (ready in 15 days)

• Executive Service: PKR 2,150 (ready in 9 days)
