In response to unprovoked Indian missile attacks on multiple Pakistani airbases, the Pakistan Army launched a large-scale counter-offensive titled “Operation Bunyan ul Marsoos”, hitting key Indian military installations, according to security sources.
The recent flare-up in the Pakistan-India conflict began on May 7, when 31 civilians were killed in an Indian cross-border strike. In a swift response, Pakistan claimed to have downed five Indian Air Force jets, including three Rafales, and intercepted dozens of drones.
As India continued UAV incursions, the Pakistan military shot down nearly 80 drones, including IAI Heron UAVs — advanced, Israeli-made surveillance systems.
In retaliation, seven Indian military sites were targeted by Pakistan, including major air bases in Pathankot, Udhampur, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, along with a Brahmos missile storage site. Security officials stated that three Fateh-1 missiles, locally developed with a range of 120km, were used to strike the Udhampur air base.
Additional hits were made on an Indian Army brigade HQ and a supply depot in Uri, while a cyberattack allegedly disabled 70% of India’s power grid. Another Brahmos storage site in Nagrota and an artillery battery were also destroyed.
On Friday night, India escalated further by launching missile strikes on Nur Khan, Murid, and Shorkot airbases from airborne platforms, according to DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, who warned, “India is aggressively pushing the entire region towards war with its reckless actions.”
He assured, “All our assets are safe, and we are fully prepared for any response.”
Amid the escalating situation, the G7 nations released a joint statement through Canada, saying they “strongly condemn” the April 22 attack on tourists in IIOJK and “urge maximum restraint from both India and Pakistan.” The group called for immediate de-escalation and encouraged “direct dialogue towards a peaceful outcome.”
Pakistan and India, both nuclear-armed states, remain locked in a bitter dispute over Kashmir, with the current tensions marking one of the most serious escalations in recent years.
