What is the Pakistan Fatah missile system? How does it work?

Pakistan has developed its own advanced missile system known as the Fatah missile system. This system includes two versions — Fatah-I and Fatah-II. Both are guided multiple launch rocket systems (GMLRS) and are built inside Pakistan.

Fatah-I and Fatah-II: What’s the Difference?

The Fatah-I is a short-range missile. It can hit targets up to 150 kilometres away. This makes it useful for fast attacks on nearby threats.

The newer Fatah-II is much more powerful. It was officially tested in December 2021 and joined the military by early 2024. This version can hit targets up to 400 kilometres away. That gives Pakistan a much bigger reach in the region.

Why Fatah-II Is So Advanced

The Fatah-II uses a satellite-guided system to aim at its target. This makes it more accurate and effective.

It is launched from a mobile launcher, which means it can be moved easily. This helps keep it safe from enemy detection. At first, the missile is guided by an inertial system. During the flight, it adjusts its path using satellite signals. This helps keep the missile on course.

To avoid radar, it flies low and flat, making it harder to detect or shoot down. In the final seconds, a special system changes its path slightly to hit the target exactly.

High Accuracy and Powerful Impact

The Fatah-II is made to destroy high-value military targets with great precision. It is one of the most advanced weapons in Pakistan’s arsenal today.

Used in Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos

Recently, Pakistan used the Fatah missile system in its military operation called Bunyan-un-Marsoos. According to reports, several Indian military sites were destroyed during this campaign.
