India and Pakistan exchange prisoners of war at Wagah Border
India and Pakistan exchanged prisoners on Wednesday following the recent conflict between the two countries.
According to media reports, the exchange happened at the Attari-Wagah Border, where each side returned one captured soldier.
Pakistan handed over Purnam Kumar Shah, a member of India’s Border Security Force, while India released Muhammad Abdullah, a soldier from the Pakistan Rangers.
Sources say the exchange was carried out with strict security in place. Both countries had been holding these soldiers since the recent clashes.
It’s still unclear how each soldier ended up across the border, but officials confirmed that diplomatic communication was used to organize their return.
This exchange follows a ceasefire agreement reached on May 10, after a brief but intense clash between the two nations. According to reports, India first launched attacks on Pakistani cities, and Pakistan responded by targeting 26 locations inside India.
