Karachi – A case of harassment has been reported at Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), prompting administrative concern and sparking an official investigation. The incident, still under inquiry, has brought the university under public scrutiny after a media probe revealed initial details.
According to GTV News, efforts were made to reach out to the university’s spokesperson for comment. In response, the spokesperson confirmed the existence of an active investigation but refrained from sharing specifics, stating only that “investigations are ongoing.”
The spokesperson further clarified that the Vice Chancellor (VC) is fully aware of the matter and has taken appropriate administrative steps. “The Vice Chancellor had formed an investigative committee to look into the allegations,” the spokesperson said, emphasizing the university’s intent to address the issue through formal channels.
Despite the seriousness of the allegations, the spokesperson revealed that the committee’s work is still in progress. “The investigation has not yet been completed,” they stated, without giving a timeline for its conclusion.
To date, the investigative committee of Sindh Madressatul Islam University has summoned both involved parties and conducted initial questioning. “Both sides were called in and have been questioned regarding the incident,” the spokesperson confirmed.
No official statement has yet been released by the Vice Chancellor or the committee members.
More updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.
