Massive Cyberattack Launched by Pakistan Against India Under “Operation Bunyan Mursoos”

In a dramatic turn of events, Pakistan’s military cyber unit has launched a large-scale cyberattack against India under a covert mission named “Operation Bunyan Mursoos”, according to multiple intelligence and cyber defense sources.

Major Sectors Targeted

The operation reportedly targeted critical Indian infrastructure, including:

• Energy Sector: Power was disrupted for nearly 80% of users across several Indian states. Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, and Karnataka saw major blackouts after thousands of power feeders and renewable energy grids were allegedly hacked.

• Oil & Gas: Systems of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGPL) were disabled, disrupting fuel supply chains and internal communications.

• Aviation & Defense: Sources claim that servers of the Indian Air Force’s Northern, Southern, and Western Commands were compromised. Communication systems at Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata airports were allegedly brought down temporarily.

• Railways: The Indian railway system experienced widespread disruptions due to server breaches, which also impacted email and OTP authentication systems used across platforms.

• Surveillance Systems: Over 3,500 CCTV cameras in key public locations, including hospitals, roads, and government offices, were hacked. In occupied Jammu & Kashmir, at least 250 routers belonging to major ISPs were taken offline.

Data Breaches and DDoS Attacks

The attack also included DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks on:

• Indian Military and Air Force

• UIDAI (Aadhaar) systems

• Stock Exchanges

• Indian Railways

• Over 90 government and private websites, many of which were breached for sensitive data.
