Pakistan warns of “brutal response” if India violates ceasefire: DG ISPR

15 May, 2025 19:09

Pakistan’s military warned India of a “brutal” response if any ceasefire violation takes place across the Line of Control (LoC). This warning came just a few days after both countries had agreed again to stick to their 2021 ceasefire deal.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the spokesperson for the Pakistan Army (ISPR), spoke to Sky News. He said Pakistan will not stay silent if its land or borders are crossed.

“Anyone who tries to enter our territory or threaten our sovereignty will face a savage response,” he warned.

The strong words came after rising tensions. Indian leaders have recently used more aggressive language about Pakistan. These statements seem to have increased pressure between the two neighbors.

Gen. Chaudhry said if India tries to start a conflict, it will lead to serious destruction for both countries. He reminded the world, especially the United States, that any major fight between India and Pakistan could be dangerous for the entire South Asia region.

“Any sensible country like the USA knows this is nonsense. India’s actions are risky,” he added.

The warning follows Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speech. Modi rejected the idea of nuclear restraint and said India will now act strongly against any threats from across the border.

“We will no longer separate terrorists from the government that supports them,” Modi said earlier this week.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office called India’s statements “irresponsible.” Officials said such comments, especially about nuclear weapons, harm peace in the region.

The latest comments show a sharp rise in threats and strong language between India and Pakistan. Both countries had just re-confirmed the ceasefire agreement, but political tension seems to be growing again.
