NADRA to issue lifetime CNIC for eligible Pakistanis above 18

16 May, 2025 14:52

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a special offer for Pakistani citizens who donate their organs for humanitarian reasons.

In a social media post, NADRA said that people aged 18 or older, who are officially registered as organ donors, can now get a lifetime smart ID card or NICOP with a green heart symbol printed on it.

Eligible donors can visit any NADRA office to apply, or they can use the PakID mobile app to request the new card from home.

Just a day earlier, NADRA also launched a digital system for birth and death registrations in hospitals across Pakistan. The goal is to modernize and speed up the recording of life events.

Agreements have already been signed with the Sindh and Balochistan governments. In Sindh, the agreement was signed by senior officials and attended by Minister Saeed Ghani.

With this new system, hospitals and health centers will send birth and death information directly to NADRA, allowing for fast and accurate updates to the national database.

NADRA says that having accurate citizen data will support the government’s “Uraan Pakistan” digital development plan. It will also help launch important projects like digital ID cards and a digital economy.

With the World Bank’s support, NADRA is also working on the Digital Economy Enhancement Project in partnership with other government bodies.

Additionally, NADRA has announced that first-time applicants can now get free national ID cards (non-chip) at no cost.
