PTI leader Qureshi hospitalized after chest pain in jail

17 May, 2025 13:46

LAHORE: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was admitted to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) on Saturday morning after experiencing chest pain, according to media reports.

Jail authorities have notified Qureshi’s family about his condition. His lawyer, Rana Muddasir, stated that Qureshi is undergoing medical treatment and several diagnostic tests have been conducted to evaluate his health.

Doctors have reported that Qureshi is experiencing shortness of breath and is currently being treated in CCU-3.

His sudden transfer to the hospital sparked concern among PTI workers.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi is currently in custody in connection with the May 9 incidents. He was moved to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi last year, following an investigation by a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) into terrorism-related charges.
