PTI plans no-vonfidence motions against PM, speaker

PTI no vonfidence motions plans
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is actively considering tabling no-confidence motions against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, party sources revealed on Monday.
According to insiders, the strategy was discussed during a recent meeting between PTI founder , his legal team, and close family members, including his sisters. The meeting focused on political options available to the party in the current parliamentary landscape.
Sources stated that PTI founder was briefed on the broader opposition alliance’s position, including that of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, who has already voiced no confidence in the current speaker.
Reportedly, Khan has authorized the PTI leadership and allied parties to proceed with planning no-confidence motions and to implement the strategy when the time is deemed politically appropriate.
Speaking on the matter, senior PTI leader and former Speaker Asad Qaiser confirmed the possibility, stating, “We are keeping this option under consideration. Due to the current Pakistan-India tensions, we have temporarily held back. If we moved now, it might be seen as politicizing a time of national crisis.”
Qaiser emphasized that both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Speaker Ayaz Sadiq remain under scrutiny and that a move could be initiated when conditions are more favorable. “The option is on the table and will be used at the right time,” he said.
This development marks a potential new phase of parliamentary pressure by PTI, which continues to challenge the legitimacy of the ruling coalition government formed after the 2024 general elections.
It is worth noting that PTI founder remains the only prime minister in Pakistan’s history to be removed via a no-confidence vote, which took place in April 2022.
As political temperatures rise once again, all eyes are on the opposition’s next move and whether they will trigger another dramatic power shift in Parliament.
