Eid al-Adha 2025 is likely on June 7, predicts SUPARCO
SUPARCO, Pakistan’s space agency, has predicted that Eid al-Adha will likely be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
According to media reports, the moon for Dhu al-Hijjah (the Islamic month in which Eid al-Adha falls) will be born on May 27 at 8:02 AM (Pakistan time).
However, the moon will only be about 11 hours and 34 minutes old at sunset, making it very difficult to see anywhere in the country on that day.
Based on this, SUPARCO expects the first of Dhu al-Hijjah to be on May 29, 2025, which means Eid al-Adha will fall on June 7.
However, the final decision about the moon sighting—and the exact date of Eid—will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Eid al-Adha is an important religious festival for Muslims. It honors Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) on Allah’s command. In the end, Allah provided a ram to be sacrificed instead.
