The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (CRHC) is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, to observe the crescent of Zilhajj 1446 AH, which will determine the date for Eid ul Azha in Pakistan.
As per the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the session will be held at the Ministry’s Islamabad office in the Kohsar Block of the Pak Secretariat. It will be presided over by CRHC Chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
“The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for sighting the moon of Zulhajj 1446 AH will be held, In-Shaa-Allah, on the evening of Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Ministry’s Islamabad office,” the official announcement stated.
If the moon is sighted on May 27, Eid ul Azha will be celebrated on Friday, June 6. Otherwise, the festival will take place on Saturday, June 7.
While the final decision depends on physical moon sighting by the CRHC, astronomers suggest that visibility is more likely on May 28, indicating a higher chance of Eid ul Azha falling on June 7.
Citizens across Pakistan now await the official confirmation, which will be announced publicly after the moon sighting meeting concludes and will be broadcast via media outlets nationwide.
