Pakistan urges India to end state terrorism, calls for meaningful dialogue

24 May, 2025 11:49

At the United Nations Security Council’s open debate, Pakistan’s UN Counselor Saima Saleem gave a strong reply to India’s recent statements. She urged India to stop state terrorism and start serious talks with Pakistan.

During her speech, Saima Saleem said India continues to mislead the world. She said India uses false information, denial, and distractions to hide the truth. She also accused India of harming civilians in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and launching attacks across the border.

Saleem reminded the council of incidents that point to India’s global actions. She mentioned the killing of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. She also referred to a plot to assassinate another Sikh leader, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, in the United States. Saleem claimed these events prove that India supports terrorism beyond Pakistan.

Speaking on the recent Pahalgam incident, Saleem said Pakistan and the international community had condemned it. She questioned why India avoided an independent investigation if it had nothing to hide.

She also criticized the Modi government’s move to stop the Indus Waters Treaty. She said India is trying to block Pakistan’s rivers, which provide water to 240 million people. “Water is not a weapon of war, it is life,” she said firmly.

Between May 6 and May 10, Saleem said, India carried out unprovoked attacks on Pakistan. These strikes killed 40 people, including 7 women and 15 children. Around 121 people were also injured, including women and children.

She said India supporting terrorist groups like the TTP, BLA, and Majeed Brigade groups were behind many attacks in Pakistan. One such attack happened on May 21 in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, where a school bus was hit. Many children died and others were badly injured.

Saima Saleem ended her speech by asking India to follow international laws and UN resolutions. She said India must stop its aggression and begin peaceful dialogue on Jammu and Kashmir. This, she said, should be done according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
