Govt Announces Early Salary, Pension Payments Amid Eid-ul-Adha 2025

25 May, 2025 11:25

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced that all provincial government employees will receive their salaries and pensions by May 30, in anticipation of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha holidays.

In an official notification, the Finance Department directed all provincial departments and institutions to ensure payments are completed by the end of the working month. The early disbursement of salary and pension is due to June 1 falling on a Sunday, which is a non-working day.

This decision comes as the nation awaits confirmation of the Eid-ul-Adha date, which will be based on the sighting of the Zul-Hijjah moon, marking the start of the Islamic calendar’s final month.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has scheduled a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for May 27 in Islamabad. Chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the committee will determine whether the moon has been sighted. Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees will also convene in their respective provinces to collect and verify moon sighting reports.

A Ministry spokesperson noted that if the moon is sighted on May 27, Eid-ul-Adha will fall on June 6. If not, the festival will be celebrated on June 7. However, an astronomer has predicted that the moon is more likely to be visible on May 28, indicating that Eid may most likely be observed on June 7 across much of the country.
