The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has confirmed that at least eight people lost their lives and 45 others were injured in various storm-related incidents across Punjab.

According to an initial report from the PDMA spokesperson, most fatalities resulted from the collapse of old and unsafe buildings. The report noted that three deaths occurred in Jhelum, while Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Sialkot, and Mianwali each reported one death.

In Lahore, the storm also caused several trees to fall and damaged multiple solar panels.

The PDMA assured that financial aid will be provided to the families affected by these incidents.

Separately, rescue officials reported that at least 10 people were killed and 51 injured in Lahore alone.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz instructed local administrations and rescue teams to remain on high alert due to the ongoing heavy rains and storms across the province. She also took notice of water accumulation in low-lying areas and directed authorities to implement immediate emergency measures.

A day earlier, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had issued a weather advisory, forecasting isolated showers, thunderstorms, windstorms, and dust storms over the following 12 to 36 hours in parts of Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Residents were advised to stay cautious, secure loose items, and limit outdoor movement during hazardous weather conditions.

The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) of NDMA issued an impact-based advisory, warning that strong winds and thunderstorms could uproot weak trees and cause temporary power outages. Dust storms, it said, also pose risks to fragile structures, rooftops, vehicles, and power infrastructure, while reduced visibility could increase the chances of road accidents.
