The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet in Islamabad on Tuesday to observe the Zilhajj 1446 Hijri moon, which will determine the date for Eidul Adha.
The meeting will be chaired by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, with zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees also conducting parallel sessions at their respective regional offices to collect evidence of the crescent sighting.
“Eid Al Adha, falls on the 10th day of Zilhajj. Eid Al Adha this year will likely fall on Saturday 7.”
The crescent sighting marks the beginning of the Islamic month of Zilhajj, during which millions of Muslims from around the world gather in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform the sacred pilgrimage of Hajj.
“Eidul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of two Eid festivals celebrated by Muslims to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son to the God.”
This major Islamic festival is observed with the ritual slaughter of animals, a practice that symbolizes Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and obedience.
“Traditionally marked by the slaughter of animals, whose meat is shared with family members and the poor.”
“The faithful slaughter their sacrificial animals in remembrance of the tradition of Prophet Ibrahim, which continues for three days of Eid.”
Authorities will announce the final decision regarding moon sighting based on credible testimonies received during the committee meetings.
