Pakistan, Iran urge ceasefire in region, condemn silence on Gaza atrocities

Addressing a press conference with the Iranian President Dr. Masoud Peshkeshian, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the brotherly country of Iran is our second home. I am grateful to the Iranian government and authorities for the wonderful welcome. I discussed with the Iranian president mutual affairs and promotion of bilateral cooperation in various fields. Various issues, including trade, investment, and commerce, were discussed in the meeting. Pakistan and Iran have long and historical relations.

Prime Minister said that the Iranian President played a role in controlling the situation in the Pakistan-India tension, there was an agreement to promote cooperation between the two countries, Pakistan got rid of the difficult situation by the grace of God, Pakistan wants peace and stability in the region, Pakistan wants to solve all problems by sitting at the negotiating table.

He said that the Kashmir issue should be resolved in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council. Pakistan is ready to discuss the issue of water with its neighboring country for peace. A few days ago, it offered an impartial investigation to its neighboring country for peace. Iran succeeded in establishing a ceasefire with the help of friendly countries.

The Pakistani Prime Minister said that if there is aggression, we will respond forcefully. We are ready to discuss water issues, counter-terrorism, and trade. The situation in Gaza is extremely worrying, more than 50,000 people have been martyred.

Address of the Iranian President

Addressing a press conference along with Shahbaz Sharif, the Iranian President said that Pakistan is a very important neighboring country of Iran. Pakistan and Iran have a common position on regional peace and security. Both countries want to promote peace, development and cooperation. The position of both countries on the OIC platform is the same.

He said that there was discussion on increasing cooperation in the economy, trade, and various sectors. Neighboring countries will have to make joint efforts for peace and stability in the region. Pakistan and India should sit together to find solutions to problems for peace and development; we welcome the ceasefire between Pakistan and India.

The Iranian president said that there is concern about the situation in Palestine, and the silence of the international community is a question mark.
