Pakistan Supports Iran’s Right to Pursue Civilian Nuclear Program: PM
TEHRAN: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Iran’s right to pursue a civilian nuclear program and underscored Islamabad’s commitment to collaborate with Tehran on issues of mutual concern, reported APP.
Addressing a joint press conference following a meeting with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, PM Shehbaz described the talks as “fruitful and constructive,” stating they covered “all aspects of shared interest and cooperation.”
The high-level bilateral meeting took place during the prime minister’s official visit to Iran, where both sides reviewed progress on existing agreements and pledged to expand relations in politics, economy, and international cooperation.
PM Shehbaz Sharif and President Masoud Pezeshkian agreed to strengthen bilateral trade, investment, and cooperation, building on deep cultural ties. PM Shehbaz thanked Iran for its support amid regional tensions and condemned Israeli actions in Gaza, calling for a lasting ceasefire.
President Pezeshkian stressed that peace and stability in Pakistan benefit Iran and welcomed the Pakistan-India ceasefire, urging dialogue for regional security. He also reaffirmed support for Palestine and condemned Israeli atrocities. The Pakistani delegation was warmly received at Tehran’s Saadabad Palace before official talks.
