On the 27th anniversary of “Youm-e-Takbeer”, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance of Pakistan’s nuclear program, calling it a symbol of strength, peace, and national security.

President Zardari said becoming a nuclear power was not just about showing technology—it was a planned step to protect the country, maintain peace in South Asia, and stop any threats from outside. He stated that Pakistan’s nuclear capability is a credible minimum deterrent that keeps the country safe and independent.

“On this momentous occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer, I extend my heartfelt felicitations to the entire nation,” the president said. He also praised the efforts of scientists, engineers, and civil and military leaders, especially Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who started the nuclear program and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for her role in strengthening it.

President Zardari stressed that Pakistan wants peace, not conflict, and respects international laws. He also mentioned that Pakistan recently showed strategic patience after unprovoked Indian aggression.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, congratulated the nation and said: “Today on Youm-e-Takbeer, I thank Allah Almighty and congratulate from the core of my heart the entire nation and all patriotic Pakistanis.” He added that this day is not just for celebration, but a reminder of our firm commitment to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Referring to the May 6–10 confrontation, PM Shehbaz said the nation stood united and the spirit of victory made this year’s Youm-e-Takbeer even more meaningful.

He also paid tribute to key figures like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, the scientific community, and the armed forces, along with the public, for their support and sacrifices in achieving this major milestone.

Both leaders called for continued unity and a stronger Pakistan, not only in defense but also in the economy.
