Pakistan pays tribute to parents on World Parents Day

Pakistan joins the world today in celebrating World Parents Day, honoring the love, care, and sacrifices parents make to raise their children and build a better society.

Observed every year on June 1 under the United Nations, the day was first recognized in 2012 to highlight the crucial role parents play in the emotional, moral, and social development of their children.

A spokesperson from the Ministry of Human Rights said, “Parents are one of life’s greatest blessings. They are the foundation of strong families and a compassionate society.”

However, concerns are rising over the growing neglect of elderly parents. Many who once gave up their comfort to raise children are now left isolated in old age. Experts stress that parents are a child’s first teachers, shaping values, character, and behavior from the very beginning.

World Parents Day serves as a reminder to love, respect, and care for our parents—not just in childhood, but throughout their lives.

As families across Pakistan reflect on this day, the message is clear:
Honor your parents. Remember their sacrifices. And never forget the hands that once held yours.
