Petrol Price Increased by Rs1 Per Litre

01 June, 2025 12:04

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has increased the price of petrol by Rs1 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs253.63 per litre, up from the previous Rs252.63.

As per the latest official notification, there has been no change in the rate of high-speed diesel, which remains steady at Rs254.64 per litre across the country. The revised petrol price has taken immediate effect following the announcement.

This minor rates hike is expected to slightly impact daily commuting costs for citizens.

Earlier, on May 16, 2025, the federal government had decided to maintain petrol rates at Rs252.63 per litre for the following fortnight, while reducing the diesel rates by Rs2 to Rs254.64 per litre.

Before that, on April 30, both petrol and diesel rates were lowered by Rs2 per litre, with petrol priced at Rs252.63 and diesel at Rs256.64.

On April 15, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that while petrol rates would not be further reduced, the public would benefit from declining global oil prices through development initiatives rather than direct price cuts.
