How to Apply for Government’s Interest-Free Fan Scheme

The Government of Pakistan has officially initiated the much-anticipated energy saving fan subsidies program for 2025, aiming to promote sustainable energy consumption across the country. As part of its broader national energy conservation strategy, the government will now provide highly efficient DC fans to households through interest-free installment plans.

With electricity prices on the rise and mounting pressure on the national power grid, this subsidy scheme is expected to offer significant relief to millions. The energy-efficient DC fans under this program consume only 20 to 40 watts, a stark contrast to conventional fans that use 70 to 100 watts, making them ideal for Pakistan’s hot summer season.

“Under the energy saving fan subsidies scheme, the government plans to replace over 88 million outdated fans across Pakistan.” Consumers will be able to purchase NEPRA-certified fans without any upfront cost and pay back the amount in easy installments through their monthly electricity bills. This move is anticipated to reduce the national energy demand by as much as 5,000 megawatts.

The program is a collaborative effort involving the federal government, local electricity companies (DISCOs), certified fan manufacturers, and commercial banks.

“To benefit from energy saving fan subsidies, the eligibility criteria are as follows: You must have a valid CNIC and active residential electricity connection. Your monthly electricity consumption should be between 100 to 300 units. You must apply through the official registration process (detailed below).” This category includes nearly 70% of residential power users across Pakistan, ensuring broad reach.

Application Process:

• Confirm Eligibility – Ensure your household uses between 100–300 units monthly.
• Registration Portal (Coming Soon) – Expected through the government’s 8171 portal, local DISCOs (e.g., LESCO, MEPCO, K-Electric), or designated centers.
• Verification – CNIC, electricity bill, or biometric confirmation may be required.
• Receive Your Fan – Approved applicants will get their fan via authorized outlets or home delivery.
• Monthly Bill Payments – Fan cost (PKR 5,000–10,000) will be paid in PKR 500–1,000 monthly installments via electricity bills.
