Family of Youth Assaulted in Karachi Defence Locks Home, Moves Away
Karachi: The family of Sudhir, a youth assaulted by suspect Salman Farooqi in Karachi’s Defence area, has locked their house and moved to an undisclosed location.
According to reports, Sudhir, a resident of Ranchhor Line, was returning home with his sister Kalpana when the attack occurred. Both siblings are employed, and at the time, Sudhir was escorting his sister from her workplace.
Following the incident, the family left their residence overnight, likely due to fear or intimidation. Locals report that since relocating, the family has not contacted anyone.
It is noteworthy that the suspect, Salman Farooqi, after a minor motorcycle collision, allegedly assaulted Sudhir in front of his sisters. The assault was captured on video and widely shared on social media, prompting swift police action.
Based on an eyewitness complaint, a case was registered. Police raided Farooqi’s office and residence, arresting his driver and security personnel before taking Farooqi into custody.
Authorities confirmed they are in contact with the victim. DIG South Asad Raza said the case, registered at Gizri Police Station, includes charges of threats, trespassing, and unlawful confinement, based on eyewitness Muhammad Aslam’s statement.
The FIR also mentions that the suspect used a weapon during the assault.
DIG Asad Raza emphasized that no one is above the law and assured that the victim will receive full justice.
