Shehbaz Sharif congratulates US on 249th Independence Day

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that relations between Pakistan and the United States are entering a new era and both countries are committed to strengthening relations.

While addressing the Independence Day ceremony at the US Embassy in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said, “I congratulate America on its 249th Independence Day.”

He said that both countries believe in democratic traditions and the supremacy of the constitution, while Pakistan was among the first countries to recognize the United States.

He said that relations between Pakistan and the United States have a history, and the relations between the two countries are entering a new era, while both countries are committed to strengthening relations.

The Prime Minister said that after 9/11, the global war on terrorism began. In 2018, Pakistan had completely eradicated terrorism. Pakistan suffered heavy losses in life and property in the war on terrorism. Pakistan’s sacrifices for counter-terrorism are second to none.

He said that India was offered an impartial international inquiry into the Pahalgam incident. In response to our sincere offer, India attacked Pakistan. Women and children were also targeted in the Indian aggression.

He further said that on May 9 and 10, India again carried out aggression, Pakistan retaliated in self-defense, in which 6 Indian aircraft were shot down.

He said that there is no doubt that the Pahalgam incident was a false flag operation by India. Pakistan showed great patience even in a tense situation. Pakistan has always desired peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

Shahbaz Sharif said that American friends contacted him to reduce tensions, while the role of friendly countries in reducing Pak-India tensions and establishing a ceasefire is welcome. A ceasefire is being implemented between Pakistan and India.

He said that the US President is against cold and hot wars, appreciates Trump’s role in the ceasefire, Trump has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is a messenger of peace, and President Trump’s efforts to promote peace and increase economic ties are commendable.

He said that various American projects for the development of Pakistan are a reflection of close relations. Our focus is on strengthening the economy, while steps are underway to increase trade with the United States, including the tariff issue.
