Umer Hayat Kaka Sent to 14 Day Judicial Remand in TikToker Sana Yousaf Murder Case

Islamabad: A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Wednesday sent the prime suspect, Umer Hayat Kaka, in the murder of TikToker Sana Yousaf, to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

Judicial Magistrate Shehzad Ahmed Gondal presided over the hearing and directed that no one be allowed to meet the accused during the remand period. The court also ordered the investigating officer to submit a progress report by June 18.

The suspect, whose face was covered, was brought to court amid tight security. The investigating officer requested an identification parade, which the court approved, directing the superintendent of Adiala Jail to make necessary arrangements for the process.

The hearing saw a brief delay due to the absence of the prosecutor, prompting the court to express displeasure. “Call the prosecutor. Proceeding will continue only after the prosecutor is present,” the judge remarked. Addressing the investigating officer, the court noted, “The prosecutor usually does not come to court. Today is a high-profile case, so all the prosecutors have reached.”

The case involves the killing of 22-year-old MBBS student and TikTok personality Sana Yousaf, who was shot in front of her mother and aunt in Islamabad just days ago. The incident has triggered widespread outrage across the country, with civil society, activists, and celebrities demanding justice.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed on Tuesday that the Islamabad police had arrested the main suspect. Authorities also recovered the murder weapon and Sana’s mobile phone from his possession. The suspect has reportedly confessed to the crime, which police say was motivated by Sana’s repeated rejection of his advances.
