Hafiz Naeem Slams US for Gaza Ceasefire Veto

06 June, 2025 17:06

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, extended Eid-ul-Adha greetings to the Muslim Ummah during a press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq. On the occasion, he also strongly criticized both domestic and international policies affecting the Muslim world.

While addressing the media, Hafiz Naeem expressed deep sorrow over the “administrative failure” that prevented 67,000 Pakistanis from performing Hajj this year. He stated, “this is not just negligence; it’s an unacceptable blunder that has robbed thousands of a once in a lifetime spiritual journey.”

Shifting focus to international affairs, Hafiz Naeem condemned the United States for vetoing a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza. He referred to former US President Donald Trump as an “enemy of peace,” accusing him of supporting war and advancing “a policy of genocide.” He added, “the US has chosen to stand on the side of oppression.”

Hafiz Naeem pointed out that more than 60,000 people have been martyred in Gaza since the Israeli offensive began. He criticized Pakistan’s political leadership for its silence, stating that no effective diplomatic or protest action has been taken. He urged for “the convening of an emergency meeting of the military chiefs of all Muslim countries,” adding that the Muslim Ummah must unite against Israeli aggression.

On the domestic front, he strongly disapproved of the federal budget, saying it ignores the struggles of ordinary citizens. Hafiz Naeem criticized the burden on the salaried class and the continued exploitation by feudal and elite classes. He warned that the government’s inflation-control measures are failing and emphasized that without meaningful reforms, “the cost-of-living crisis will only deepen,” urging the government to act with real, visible steps.
