Bilawal Bhutto urges U.S. to push India toward peace talks
India toward peace talks
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the United States should play a stronger role in promoting peace between Pakistan and India.
Speaking at a press conference in London with a parliamentary delegation, he stated that if the U.S. needs to “drag India by the ear” to start peace talks, it should, as global peace depends on stability in South Asia.
Bilawal emphasized that Pakistan has repeatedly asked India for evidence of alleged terrorism but received none. He said India knows Pakistan is not involved in terrorism and all of India’s efforts to blame Pakistan will fail. He added that Pakistan wants to resolve issues like terrorism, Kashmir, and water disputes through dialogue.
He also referred to U.S. President Donald Trump’s past statements encouraging dialogue on Kashmir, calling on the current U.S. administration to support this approach.
Bilawal accused India of running an organized campaign against Sikhs and carrying out terrorist actions in Pakistan. He urged India to stop promoting violence abroad.
Regarding recent tensions, he said India’s threats to cut off Pakistan’s water supply violate international law and the UN Charter. He also praised Pakistan’s military strength, stating that despite being smaller, Pakistan is capable of defending itself. He said the promotion of General Asim Munir to Field Marshal is recognition of his leadership.
