Pakistan’s former Foreign Minister and head of the parliamentary delegation, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, addressed a European think tank on Friday, raising serious concerns about the growing trend of using sensitive resources like water as a weapon in regional conflicts.
He emphasized that Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change and called for global cooperation to tackle the environmental crisis. During his meeting with European Union foreign affairs officials, Bilawal stressed the importance of peace and stability in South Asia.
Bilawal presented Pakistan’s firm stance on India’s aggressive policies and urged the European Union to play a constructive role in promoting peace in the region. He strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Iran and called on the international community to immediately halt the growing conflict in the Middle East.
Regarding the recent incident in Pahalgam, Bilawal said that Pakistan had offered transparent investigations, but India responded with unprovoked aggression instead of cooperation. He added that despite tensions, Pakistan has shown restraint and avoided any aggressive steps.
He also criticized the Modi government for suspending the Indus Waters Treaty illegally. “If vital agreements like the Indus Waters Treaty are undermined, it could seriously threaten regional peace,” he warned.
Bilawal concluded by pointing out that India has yet to provide any credible evidence related to the Pahalgam incident, further underlining the need for accountability and responsible dialogue in the region.
