Mild earthquake shakes parts of Karachi again

14 June, 2025 11:48

On Saturday morning, mild earthquake tremors were felt once again in different areas of Karachi.

According to the Seismological Centre, the earthquake hit at 9:54am and had a magnitude of 3.2 on the Richter scale. Its epicentre was north of Malir, at a depth of 35 kilometres.

The tremors were especially felt in Quaidabad, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulzar Hijri, and University Road. People in these areas reported brief shaking, saying it only lasted a few seconds.

“People came out of their homes and offices for a short time after feeling the jolts,” said a resident of Shah Faisal Colony.

Experts at the Seismological Centre confirmed that the quake was minor and not dangerous. “The seismic activity observed this morning is part of a low-magnitude pattern of quakes we’ve been monitoring since the start of the month,” a spokesperson said.

This is now the 39th earthquake recorded in or near Karachi since June 1, which has worried both locals and experts due to the rising number of tremors.

Authorities have asked residents to stay calm and follow safety precautions if more earthquakes happen.
