BISP Announces New Payment Procedure for June 2025 Quarterly Installment

17 June, 2025 13:12

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has introduced a new retail-based payment model for disbursing quarterly installments to beneficiaries, replacing the previous campsite distribution method.

The updated system takes effect from the Q4 2025 installment cycle and aims to provide a safer, more dignified, and transparent cash transfer process—especially crucial amid Pakistan’s ongoing heatwave.

Key Features of the New System

  • Retail Outlet Payments: Beneficiaries can now collect funds from designated retail shops equipped with biometric verification.
  • Printed Receipts: Ensures transparency by providing instant transaction records.
  • Weather-Resilient: Avoids long queues in extreme heat, prioritizing beneficiary comfort.

Officials Ensure Smooth Transition

During a visit to District Khanewal, BISP Additional Secretary Dr. Tahir Noor assessed logistical readiness, consulting with district teams and partner banks. “The new procedure makes payments more convenient, respectful, and accessible,” he stated, directing banks to:

  • Ensure fully functional outlets with trained staff.
  • Maintain biometric devices, network stability, and clear awareness materials.
  • Roll out public campaigns to educate beneficiaries.

Digital Payment Pilot with Pakistan Post

In a related development, BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid met Pakistan Post DG Samiullah Khan to explore biometric-verified digital stipend disbursements.

A pilot project will test system integration, potentially expanding secure digital options for 10 million beneficiaries nationwide.

The shift to retail payments marks BISP’s effort to modernize welfare delivery, balancing efficiency with dignity amid climate challenges. Beneficiaries are urged to stay updated via official channels for rollout details.
