Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has threatened to dissolve the provincial assembly if the federal government continues to interfere in the province’s affairs and obstructs the passage of the annual budget.
In a video statement, KP CM Gandapur accused the federal government of deliberately creating obstacles in approving KP’s budget. “I can dissolve the assembly at any time,” he warned, adding that failure to pass the budget could lead to the federal government imposing a financial emergency and taking control of the province.
He also alleged that conspiracies are underway to topple the KP government. Gandapur pointed out that Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has yet to approve the summary required to convene the budget session, further escalating the political crisis.
The Chief Minister stated that he has instructed KP assembly members to refrain from voting on cut motions scheduled for today, explaining that such voting would trigger the budget approval process.
KP CM emphasized that the budget cannot be approved without consultations with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder. He claimed the government is preventing meetings between Imran Khan and PTI leaders regarding the budget.
“Consultation with PTI founder on budget approval is his political right,” Gandapur said, adding that the KP budget will only be approved after Imran Khan’s consent.
He concluded by condemning the obstruction, declaring, “We are not being allowed to meet the founder of PTI on the issue of the budget. I will not let this conspiracy succeed. We will launch a movement against this system; this system cannot continue anymore.”
